During labour, especially when pushing, it is very natural for you to defecate. This can also happen when you are birthing in water. Having a bowel movement is something that is part of birthing and quite common.

When this happens in a bed, the stool will be immediately removed. When this happens in a birth pool, the stool can be removed with the strainer. This strainer is included in the Standard Kit that is provided when you buy a birth pool with us. The strainer is also used to remove any other debris—such as blood clots—from the water before emptying the pool.
